Hi ActiveBar boys, i am an old user of activebar, since activebar 1.0. I have really loved this product but now I am really confused, a lot of users request AB3 release with 2003 style but DataDynamics is really foggy about this product. Eric Johnson from DataDynamics writed some message about AB3 (see at bottom), in the first message he said us that "by the end of Jan. 2005" DataDyn. give us "detail information on the release of AB3". In the second message he said "The first beta of AB 3.0 is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year". It's a long time, but i would wait for AB3 because AB it's my first love! But now the same Eric Johnson from DataDyn. posted the third message writing: "ActiveBar users, After considering all relevant business issues, Data Dynamics has decided not to commit to an Activebar upgrade this year. We will continue to maintain and enhance Activebar as our resources permit." This is the deat of AB!!!!!! I really hope that DataDyn change mind about this, more i will hope that they give us in AB3 not only 2003 style but also enanched docking capabilities (something like in visual studio 2005, look at CodeJock XtremeDock like sample). Otherwise i will be another user that change AB2 with a competitor and more supported product (i think this will be a large community). I will appreciate all suggestion from user that switched from AB2 to competitor product. Good Luck DataDynamics A losed user of yours Maurizio Fichera Message from :Eric Johnson Support Manager Data Dynamics
We will provide detail information on the release of AB 3.0 by the end of the month, Jan. 2005. I appreciate your patience on this subject.

The first beta of AB 3.0 is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year. The Office 2003 style will be one of the new features. Once the final set of features has been determined we will post the information.

ActiveBar users, After considering all relevant business issues, Data Dynamics has decided not to commit to an Activebar upgrade this year. We will continue to maintain and enhance Activebar as our resources permit.
Very disappointing. And it it not just ActiveBar: Sharpgrid also has not had a serious update in years; and sharpgrid for .net had been promised years ago. Teebo.com will come out with a toolbar control in the spring (they already have a menu control with Office 2003). Thereafter we no longer will have to bother DataDynamics with our requests for new business.
Hi everybody, as you can see DataDynamics doesn't reply. Boys we have lose ActiveBar,from now keep in mind that every code line you write with ActiveBar is a dead line code. So leave ActiveBar and leave DataDynamics to its trouble with SharpUi (just a low level component under .net, ActiveBar was the number one on Activex). If you look for new components under Activex platform look away from DataDynamics, for example Codejock or Dockstudio. Bye Bye.
We will continue to support and provide updates for ActiveBar and DynamiCube. ActiveBar 3.0 was pulled from the product schedule for this year but that does not mean we will never release an upgrade for the product. Eric Johnson Data Dynamics

The top 10 beta testers for ActiveReports for .NET 2.0 and for SharpGraph for .NET will receive free copies of the product when released. Good luck to development sharpers and active reporters. P.S. The "World cup" game is closed now.
If your company don't plain upgrades we will not upgrade to .Net with you!!! Because you will not make upgrades to them when they became old. What is the problem with AB3? Price? Users?
