Job Title:  Technical Writer
Department: User Education
Reports To: Company President
FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY
Works as a team member on product development or other projects to provide clear and consistent documentation through accurate and concise writing and successful use of document format specifications. The technical writer will also assist the department in creating and providing new user education opportunities and assist with various public relations efforts as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan and create documentation plans for new product documentation projects.

Work with the product development team to acquire source material and information for documents and to develop understanding of the products.

Write, revise, edit, and proofread new and existing product documentation.

Make suggestions or corrections in order to make a document more clear and concise.

Complete documentation Change Requests.

Initiate or suggest changes to existing department style or process specifications to promote efficiency and consistency.

Assist in creating and providing user education opportunities.

Effectively utilize HelpStudio 2 and Document!X 5 to produce complete documentation sets (integrated online help, web help, printable documents, etc).

Education and/or Experience
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated work experience documenting commercial software products. Salary is commensurate with experience. The individual must be able to edit work inline, and work with little supervision to produce quality material. Technical knowledge should include HTML and basic knowledge of Visual Studio.NET, especially C# and Visual Basic.NET.

Other Skills
The individual must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. He or she must be able to quickly adapt planning and writing to constantly changing and evolving product specifications and must be able to continuously update personal knowledge of cutting-edge technology. The right person will be capable of working independently on documentation projects or with a team.

Support Technician

SUMMARY
Provide excellent technical assistance to customers in the implementation of the company’s products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

This position is responsible for the support of customers ranging from independent developers to large in-house information technology organizations using the company’s products and to forward any bugs reported in the process to the respective development team. Daily tasks include: writing sample code, debugging customer code, and communicating with customers\quality assurance\development teams in the discovery\tracking of software bugs.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A burning desire to satisfy customers

OTHER SKILLS
Any experience with components, .NET, ASP.Net, Visual Basic, ASP, C++ is a plus.

SUMMARY
Researches, designs, and develops computer software components, specializing in custom controls, in accordance with company product development plans, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Produces high quality software tools or components thereof in accordance with the company's product plans and quality standards.

Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.

Assists developing software testing procedures, programming, and documentation.

Responds to change requests and/or bug fixes in a timely manner as prioritized by company management.

Provides input as to design, technology and time estimates for new products and upgrades to existing products.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience
Individual should have a four year technical degree and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated work experience delivering commercial software products.  Technical knowledge should include C, C++, VC++, .NET, ASP.NET, Windows Forms, ADO.NET, XML, MFC, ATL/WTL, Win32, COM/DCOM, ActiveX, Java/Swing, ODBC, OLE DB, ADO, ASP, WinSock, OpenGL, and advanced Windows GDI.

Other Skills
Individual must possess above average oral and written communication skills.  Individual must be able to work well alone and as a team player.  Individual must be able to work under deadline/schedule constraints while producing high quality code.
