HOWTO: Using the Diamond Reports Sample and Crystal Import Wizard

Installing the Diamond Report Sample

  1. You will find the neccessary files attached to this article
  2. Open the AddIn folder and unzip the zip file.
  3. Open the AddIn.sln and go to the Build menu option, choose Rebuild Solution and close the IDE.
  4. Open the Diamond Reports Folder unzip the zip file.
  5. Open DiamondReports.sln and go to the References view. You should see that the ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin assembly has a yellow exclamation.
  6. Right-click on the assembly and select Remove.
  7. Right click on References and choose Add Reference...
  8. Click Browse and navigate to the Addin folder (AddIn\bin\Debug\ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin.dll).
  9. Choose Open and then OK. This should add the ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin to the references.
  10. Try to run the Diamond Report sample. If this loads and runs fine, you can then add any of the Addin (e.g. Database Wizard, Crystal Import or Access Import).

Adding the Crystal Import Addin

  1. Open the Crystal Import Addin.
  2. Open the CrystalImport folder and unzip the zip file.
  3. Open the CrystalImport.sln and go to the References view. You should see that the ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin assembly has a yellow exclamation.
  4. Right-click on the assembly and select Remove.
  5. Right-click on References and choose Add Reference...
  6. Click Browse and navigate to the Addin folder (AddIn\bin\Debug\ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin.dll).
  7. Choose Open and then OK. This should add the ActiveReports.Wizards.Addin to the references.
  8. Go to the Build menu option and choose Rebuild Solution and close the IDE.

Using the Crystal Report Wizard

  1. If the DiamondReports.sln is not open, then open and run it.
  2. Go to Tools > Add-In Manager...
  3. Click Load New Add-in. Browse to CrystalImport Folder (CrystalImport\bin\Debug\ActiveReports.Wizards.CrystalImport.dll) and choose the CrystalImport.dll.
  4. Click Open and it should take you back to the Add-in manager where you should see the Crystal Import Wizard in the list.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Now when you go to Tools, you will see the Crystal Import Wizard, which can be selected and opened.
