After this error occurs, the user can simply start the application again and the report will work fine for awhile, then the problem will randomly happen again. DD told me it had something to with the way I am reading fields from the array; I'm not sure I buy that though because we have hundreds of reports that are filled using the exact same technique, and only some of them seem to get this error, and it's very sporadic.
This has been very frustrating to troubleshoot, to say the least. I got the latest hotfix (2.0.0.1205), to no avail. I also sporadically get CP Internal = 103005 as well. Is this the same problem? Is there anything more specific I can get my hands around?

I get the same thing intermittently. I run the report again and everything is fine. I use bound & unbound.

Same here.
My development machine has ADO 2.7, and does not suffer from the problem. But my client's machines, which I have updated using MDAC 2.7, still suffer from a random, recoverable Error 5000 when viewing reports.
I'm using the latest 1205 hotfix.
