ActiveCube is intended for Multi-Dimensional database connectivity, whereas DynamiCube is intended for Relational database connectivity. If you are reading data from a relational database, I would recommend using DynamiCube. On the other hand, if you wish to take advantage of Analysis Services (ships with SQL Server) then you would have to use ActiveCube.
