Is there a limit on the number of rows that can be exported to Excel?
Hi,

One of our users recently began to work with large cubes, and found that some of the exported Excel files couldn't be opened. Excel 2007 displays an error message when opening the .xls file: Excel found unreadable content in . Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook?" Selecting Yes to recover results in a second error message "Unable to read file."

Trial-and-error testing shows that the Excel file can't be read if the # of rows in the cube is > 65535.

This was a limit in older versions of Excel. Is it also a limit in Dynamicube? I have tried the latest release, Build: 3.3.0.1224 from Feb 2011.

We are calling the ExportToExcel method with mostly the default parms:

DCube1.ExportToExcel CommonDialog2.Filename

The ExportToExcel method completes without errors.

Thanks,

Dan.

Re: Is there a limit on the number of rows that can be exported to Excel?
Dan,

The DynamiCube's Excel export uses old format of Excel files with 65535 rows and 256 columns limitations. DynamiCube is discontinued product so, unfortunately, there are no plans for implementing new Excel export format.

Thank you,

Andrey T.
