Error when installing latest release - 1.6.1871.45
|

I am trying to upgrade to 1.6.1871.45 and get the following error:
'The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738.'
OS: Vista Business SP1

Rich,
Error 2738 is a generic error and can be thrown because of several reasons.
If you are installing the product on Windows Vista/Windows 7, then please right click the installer and then select “Run as Admin” option.
If you still get this error message then please uninstall DataDynamics Reports and then register vbscript.dll as sometimes this DLL is not registered:
The VBScript engine can be quickly registered by following these steps:
1. Run Command Prompt as administrator:
1. Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories
2. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
2. Run the following command:
(a) If you are using 32-bit version of Windows:
Type cd %windir%\system32 into the Command Prompt and hit Enter
(b) If you are using 64-bit version of Windows:
Type cd %windir%\syswow64 into the Command Prompt and hit Enter
3. Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll into the Command Prompt and hit Enter.

Hi Rich,
Do you know what caused it to work?
I haven't heard of this error happening before so I'm curious whether there is something we can do to remedy this.

Hi James,
Not sure exactly, but probably registering (or re-registering) the vbscript.dll.
'Run as admin' did not work.
Uninstalling DDR did not work.
So, I tried to register the DLL and after that, the install ran perfectly.
