Integrating report designer with visual studio
|
|
|
|
|
hi,
i normally design reports in visual studio using the default microsoft report designer control. This is used for both creating and editing reports and gives access to my project datasets.
what is your recommendation for designing reports that will be compatible with your viewer (i.e. reportPreview control) using your designer? - can it be incorporated with visual studio?
thanks.

Hello,
Yes, the Report Designer is 100% compatible with Visual Studio.
Let me know if you are looking for something specific.

Here it is:
(1) Create a new Windows Forms application in Visual Studio.
(2) In the toolbox, you will find UserDesignerControl inside ‘Data Dynamics Reports’ tab. If it is not there, then you may add the UserDesignerControl to the toolbox by:
(a) Right clicking on the Toolbox and selecting choose Items.
(b) In the Filter Textbox of ‘Choose Toolbox Items’ window, type ‘UserDesigner’.
(c) You will find UserDesignerControl with an assembly name of DataDynamics.Reports.Design.
(d) Select this control and Click on OK to add this to the toolbox.
(3) Once added to the toolbox, you can drag and drop it to the Form to use it.
If you are looking to create RDLX files directly then you may:
(1) Right click on the Project Name in Solution Explorer and select “Add New Item”.
(2) Choose the Data Dynamics Reports in the Categories and then choose ‘Report’. Click on Add and this will add a new RDLX file in your project.
Let me know if you need a demo for this and I should be able to create one and send it to you.

Hello, We register Visual Studio editor for and rdlx,rdlx-master extensions only. If you want to edit rdlc file with DDR designer then rename *.rdlc->*.rdlx.
