AR 6 Xaml Viewer
I am guessing there isn't an Active Report WPF viewer created yet? Would we have to place the viewer in a windows Forms host to be able to use it in an app at this point?

Thats correct, if you dig through the forums you will find some mention that the developers are actually working on a WPF based viewer but have no estimated release that is yet made public.

eddie.d.2000,

Unfortunately a WPF viewer is currently not available with ActiveReports; however we do have a feature request case 22938 opened to get this feature implemented in ActiveReports. I have added your E-mail address to the list of affected users for this case. You will be notified once this feature is implemented in future.

Regards,
Sankalp

Is this planned to work in Silverlight? Will the viewer have export capability? PDF?

Hello,

We have Case 133330 to implement a silverlight viewer control. Your email has been added to the list of affected users and you would be notified of updates.
Further, you should be able to make the PDF exports even currently from the document of the reports.

Regards,
Prantik

Re: AR 6 Xaml Viewer
Currently we only send pdf exported reports to the client. It would be nice if the exports happened on the client so they can decide if they want a pdf or a rtf without a round trip.

Better yet... In many cases, the data for the report is already displayed on the screen and we either send the data back to the server to generate the report or go back to the server to re-query for the data to generate the report. Why not have the report generated on the client?

Re: AR 6 Xaml Viewer
Hello,

Reports are generated and exported on the server and then they are streamed to the client. However if your reports contains the same data and you don’t want to run the reports before exporting to different formats then you may save your reports in the RDF format. You may export these RDF files to different formats. This would save your report generation time if client want to see the same report in the PDF and RTF formats.

You may check this link to know how to save RDF files.

Ankit Nigam
