Using ActiveBar on Windows 7 x64
Hello,

I'm trying to migrate a piece of business-critical legacy software onto a Windows 7 64-bit system. It uses ActiveBar 2.5.0.22. I have been able to register actbar2.ocx, I think, but now upon starting the problem I get the following error:

"2015 - Could not get the control's or form's Window Handle
[ Extended Info :Band: bndSearch, Tool: frmSearch] in Form_Load"

I can click OK, but the form does not then load properly, and the program is not usable/

I appreciate that support for ActiveBar has officially ended, but have you any idea what the problem might be? Would updating to ActiveBar 3 be likely to make a difference?

Thanks,

Spinner

Re: Using ActiveBar on Windows 7 x64

Spinner,

We didn't perform any testing for ActiveBar2 on Windows7. However, we did it for ActiveBar3 (Windows7 x86). You can download full-function ActiveBar3 evaluation version from download section:
http://www.datadynamics.com/forums/38/ShowForum.aspx
Then you can update your existing project to use ActiveBar3 with utility which comes with ActiveBar3 installation and try to run software again. If you would still encounter problems, can you please send me a small sample and steps to reproduce the issue?

Thank you,
Andrey T.

Hi Andrey,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I can't download ActiveBar 3 - when I click the link entitled "Click here to download the file" I get the message "Access Denied You do not have permissions to perform the requested action."

Can you help?

Thanks.

EDIT: Logging in and out seems to have cleared the download problem, I'll try the evaluation version now, thanks.

Does ActiveBar 3.0 work on both wind7 32bit and 64bit or just 32bit?

I'm having probs with it on my 64bit dev system and wondering before I build a 32bit machine if its been tested on 64 and it makes sence that I'm hitting walls.

thanks

Greg

Greg_Vitz,

ActiveBar3 should work on Windows 7 x64 environment. Make sure that you've registered ActBar3.ocx with regsvr.exe from Windows \syswow64 folder and compile your application in x86 mode. If you have any problems, please describe them in details.

Thank you,
Andrey T.
