Manifest definition does not match the assembly reference .. 0x80131040 I will try to summarize, because I really need help. I have some really stable software (vb.net dll) that is installed at several hundred clients. After installing my software at a new client, they immediately got the below error. They were not getting it prior to my install. Could not load file or assembly 'ActiveReports3, Version =5.1.0.158, Culture=neutral, PublickeyToken=cc4967777c49a3ff" or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (exception from HRESULT 0x80131040. My software does not use ActiveReports, but something in my install must have installed over a component that it requires. Manifest definition does not match the assembly reference .. 0x80131040 Hello, From list of installed components, file names, and versions I don’t find any dll which depends on ActiveReports for .Net 3.0. I would suggest you to check with the developers of your dlls, if they have used ActiveReports for .Net 3.0 build 5.1.0.158.
