Change item location based on parameter
Is there any way to change the location of an item(textbox, table) in a report based on an expression or a parameter? I would like to be able to hide a part of a report and move everything else up to eliminate the dead space.

Hello,
The location of a report item can't be changed at runtime. However, you can set the visibility of the report item to the parameter-based expression and if it's hidden then the dead space should be eliminated automatically.

This isn't working for me. If I set the hidden value to true, it does hide and eliminate deadspace. When i set the hidden property with an expression based on a parameter, it hides it but does not eliminate dead space.

Hello,
Could you please update DDR to version 1.6.1789.0 that can be downloaded from https://grapecity.sharefile.com/d-s883b646322546c68 and let us know whether the problem disappears with that build?

Re: Change item location based on parameter
I have updated to that version and am still having the issue. The item that i am trying to hide is a subreport. If I set the hidden value to true manually, it removes the dead space. If i try to set the value with a parameter, i have the deadspace on the report.

Re: Change item location based on parameter
Thanks for attaching the RDLX file. I can see that you are using couple of Sub-Reports in the attached file however could not find any Visibility expression set for the Sub-Reports.
The first Sub-Report has the initial visibility set to Hidden and there is no expression. The second one has the initial visibility set to Visible and not with any expression.

Can you please attach the updated or the modified version of the RDLX?

Sure. Here is the report. I also included the subreports and xml data for all three reports. The subreports visibility are set to expressions based on boolean parameters. Each subreport has a page break in it. With how it is now, I get a blank page for each subreport. If I manually set the hidden property to true on the subreports, it skips these blank pages like I want it to.

Hello,

Thanks for providing the sample RDLX. I have been able to re-create this issue at my end and have entered this in our system as Case 143986. I have added your email address to the list of affected users for this case. You will be notified once a build containing a fix for this issue will be released.

Regards,
Amit
