01-10-2010, 1:08 PM BIUser Joined on 08-18-2008 Posts 27 Export to Excel throws a run time error Attachment: temp.zip Hi, When we try to export a report to excel it throws 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' error. This is reproducible in the Report Designer Preview mode also. I have attached the rdlx and the error message details. Please advise    Report

I have ideas about the error nature though. Could you please perform the following steps: In the exception dialog which is shown on page 2 of "ExportToExcel Runtime error.doc" click on "Copy" button. The problem appears because the table 'Table1' does not have the detail rows. Excel Rendering Engine does not check whether the table has the detail rows or not which is definitely bug in the product. We will enter the change request for that problem and inform you about it's number shortly. For now you can use the simple work-around. Add the detail row into the table, make it invisible. You will be notified once the problem is fixed and the build containing the fix is released. For now you can use work-around which I mentioned in the previous post.
