Export to Excel throws a run time error

Hi,

When we try to export a report to excel it throws 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' error. This is reproducible in the Report Designer Preview mode also.

I have attached the rdlx and the error message details. Please advise

Hello,
It's quite difficult to reproduce the problem on our side with the report you provided because we don't have the copy of the report's data source.
I have ideas about the error nature though. Could you please perform the following steps:
In the exception dialog which is shown on page 2 of "ExportToExcel Runtime error.doc" click on "Copy" button.
(The exception stack trace will be copied in the clipboard)
Send us that stack trace.

The problem appears because the table 'Table1' does not have the detail rows. Excel Rendering Engine does not check whether the table has the detail rows or not which is definitely bug in the product. We will enter the change request for that problem and inform you about it's number shortly.
For now you can use the simple work-around. Add the detail row into the table, make it invisible. I have attached the modification of the report which shows that approach.

Hello,
I've added case 141436 to address the problem you have faced.
You will be notified once the problem is fixed and the build containing the fix is released.
For now you can use work-around which I mentioned in the previous post.

Hello,

Case 141436 – ‘If the table doesn't have the detail rows, then the Excel template can't be generated.’ has been resolved in the latest version of Data Dynamics Reports (1.6.1818.8). You may download this build from here:
