ActiveReports 6 Hotfix 2 Build 6.0.2250.0

ActiveReports 6 Hotfix 2 Build 6.0.2250.0 is now available. You can download it from here.  To find a list of all new features, enhancements, and fixed issues in this release, on the Latest Releases post, click Show Details.

Check out What's New in ActiveReports 6.

Of the new features we have added to this release, here are some of the major ones.

  • Medium Trust Support: As of Hot Fix 2, you can use ActiveReports 6 in a Medium Trust environment for ASP.NET reporting. There are some limitations due to underlying system restrictions.  Click here to find out more.
  • Enhancement to Advanced Character Support in the PDF Export Filter: We have added a font fallback mechanism which is very similar to the Windows font-fallback paradigm. This ensures that any character in the report document is correctly rendered in the generated PDF. This feature is available in the Professional Edition only. Click here for more details.
  • Client-Side JavaScript API for the Flash Viewer: With the new comprehensive client-side JavaScript API for the Flash Viewer control, now you can do the following (click here for more details):
    • load RDF format documents
    • navigate through documents
    • specify multipage settings
    • set themes and hyperlink colors
    • adjust Table of Contents panel settings
    • customize the toolbar
    • use event handlers to create custom commands
    • display error messages or warnings to users
    • control printing options.
  • Localize Individual Controls and Entire Reports:  With the new public Culture property on the following items, you can define how ActiveReports formats data when the OutputFormat property is set to D (date), C (currency), or other culture-specific .NET format specifiers. It is language- and culture-independent reporting, with TextBox controls, Chart controls, and even the report itself with no run-time dependency on the language and culture settings of the application or of the underlying operating system. This allows you to design reports with data that is formatted the same regardless of the language under which it is run. Click here for more details.
    • ActiveReport class
    • TextBox control
    • Chart control

Please check out the ActiveReports 6 online help for detailed documentation on new and existing features. We also provide a printable user guide for developers, and a redistributable designer guide for end users that you can redistribute with your own applications (Professional Edition only).

We also provide an ActiveReports 6 User Guide project (Professional edition only) that you can use to customize and compile your own CHM or PDF help file in Innovasys HelpStudio 3. See instructions on how to use this project.

Thank you again for the feedback.

The ActiveReports team.
