Use subtotaling in matrix groups to add meaning to your data. Dragging a numeric field into the detail cell of a matrix automatically creates an expression using the Sum function to give an aggregation of the data at that point, but you can also add subtotals and grand totals.
To add a subtotal to a matrix group
- In the Layout view of the report, right-click a row header or column header cell in the matrix.
- Select Subtotal. A new column or row with a header labeled Total is added.
- To edit the properties of the subtotal, left-click the green corner of the new header and the properties appear in the property grid.
To add a grand total to a matrix
- Follow the steps above to add subtotals to both the row header and the column header.
- The bottom right cell of the rendered matrix reflects the grand total.
