You can sort groups in a BandedList data region by fields or expressions. Note that you cannot sort data in the detail band of a BandedList, only the groups. For example, if you group on the YearReleased field in the Reels database, you can sort ascending from 1937 through 2005, or reverse the order by using descending for the direction.

To sort a group in a banded list

1. Right-click a group header or footer in the BandedList and choose Edit Group.
2. On the Groups smart panel that appears, select the group in which you want to sort data.
3. From the row of icons that appears below the list of groups, select the Sorting icon.
    
4. Enter an expression in the Expression column by which to sort the data in the group.

5. In the Direction column, select whether you want to sort the data in an Ascending or Descending direction.
