To create a shared data source
- Click the Data Explorer icon to the bottom left of the report.
- Click the Add Data Source icon.
- In the Report DataSource smart panel that appears, select the General page.
- Enter a Name (i.e. Factbook), Type (i.e. XML), and Connection String (i.e. XmlDoc=C:\Factbook.xml) for the data source.
- Click the Accept button in the lower right corner to close the smart panel and see the data source appear in the Data Explorer.
- Right-click the data source in the Data Explorer and choose Share Data Source.

Note: Once the data source has been shared, right-clicking it in the Data Explorer of any report using it offers the option to Edit Shared Data Source. - Enter a File name for the Shared Data Source File and navigate to the folder in which you want to save it.
- Click the Save button.
